Submitting Your Site to Search Engines

Many companies sell products that claim to register your site on thousands of search engines for "one low price". Don't be tricked into spending money on registering. Even though there are thousands of search engines, almost all of the search results on those engines come from just 4 search systems. That means that if you register your site with the 4 search systems, you will be on all of the search sites automatically! And guess what? Registration on all of those systems is free. Moral of the story: don't spend money on something that is free. You can do it yourself by following the links below.

Where to Submit your Site

The following links will allow you to submit your website to the major search engines. Once you have submitted your site, make sure you understand search engine optimization.

Other Useful Search Engine Links

  • Ever wonder what Spider belongs wo what search engine? Find out with the Index of "Spiders"
  • Need more information about how to work with Google? Take a look at Google's Webmaster Guide

Registering with the search engines doesn't guarante success, though. If you are registered in Google, but you site appears as number 203,738 on the list you aren't going to see any traffic. That's where search engine optimization comes in.
